These four members of St John Ambulance wanted to raise money and decided to do it the hard way.
They set off on a 20-mile sponsored run carrying a stretcher.
The West Oxford division needed to buy another resuscitation dummy, and these four decided to take up the challenge in 1983.

The four intrepid athletes, all from Botley, Oxford, were Caroline McNally, 17, of St Paul’s Crescent, Vanessa Miller, 18, of Westminster Way, Nick Parker, of Botley Road, and Robert Lloyd, 21, of Pinnocks Way.
St John Ambulance is a volunteer powered, charitable organisation dedicated to the teaching of first aid.
It supports the NHS, provides medical support at public events and administers engaging youth programmes throughout England.
