FORMER Chinnor tighthead prop Elliot Millar-Mills made his Scotland debut from the bench in their Six Nations win against Wales on Saturday.

Now with Northampton Saints, the 31-year-old qualifies for Scotland through his mother, and earned his first cap when he replaced Zander Fagerson.

Scotland charged into a 27-0 lead in 43 minutes, in their Six Nations opener, however Wales fought back to make it 26-27, yet the visitors hung on in the final 12 minutes to record a first win in Cardiff in 22 years.

Chinnor director of rugby, the former England player Nick Easter, said: “I was absolutely delighted to see Elliot named in the Scotland squad.

“This time last year, he was plying his trade marching our scrum forward. He never gave up on his dream that something big was around the corner.

“We were loathe to lose him, but happy for his progression to Edinburgh, then a Premiership deal with Saints, and now an international call-up.

“It’s a great story of perseverance and belief, and yet another example of National League 1 being an excellent pathway.”

Millar-Mills joined Chinnor last January, while also enjoying spells with Edinburgh Rugby and Bath Rugby last season, prior to joining Saints in May.

He replaced Leicester Tigers prop Will Hurd in the Scotland squad, after he suffered a foot injury.

In making his international debut, Millar-Mills has followed in the footsteps of his sister Bridget, who has represented the Scotland Women national team.
