PAUL McMullen finished fifth after an impressive final day in the Logan Trophy.

The Frilford Heath member notched four birdies on the front nine to finish two-under par overall.

After scoring 73 in the first two rounds at Staffordshire’s Enville Golf Club, McMullen hit form on the final day as he climbed to fifth in the standings.

David Corben won the mid-amateur competition by two shots after a drama-filled 17th hole.

Corben (Hindhead) held his nerve on the final couple of holes to ensure his six-under through 54 holes was enough to see off Craig Simmons (Shifnal) and Martin Young (Brokenhurst Manor), who both finished four-under par.

The Logan Trophy is open to male amateur golfers aged 35 or over on the first day of the championship.
