EDDIE Pepperell gets underway in Spain after a solid showing at St Andrews, which saw him get a hole in one.

The Frilford Heath member tees off at the Acciona Open de Espana at 2.10pm today, alongside Nacho Elvira, of Spain, and Italy’s Edoardo Molinari.

It follows a successful Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland, where Pepperell finished 28th.

The championship finished on Sunday, and the Abingdon golfer saw off the fourth round two-under par.

A bogey on the second hole was followed by three consecutive birdies on holes four to six, plus another on the ninth.

Another bogey on the 13th was straight away followed by a birdie, and a final bogey on the 16th.

Pepperell finished nine shots behind winner Ryan Fox, of New Zealand.

The 31-year-old did manage a hole in one though, on a wet and windy second day at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

On his hole in one, Pepperell told Sky Sports during his on-course interview: “It was timely. I’ve not been able to get the ball in from two feet today it seems, and then I had a hole in one.

“It was actually a good shot and it gave a few of my fans out here something to cheer about.”
