LUKE Ryan proved the hero in taking four late wickets to help Banbury earn a 24-run win over Burnham in the Home Counties Premier League.

The north Oxon side elected to bat, posting 213 with Hugo Darby top-scoring with 57 in the Division 1 clash.

But with the visitors on 186-6, Banbury were facing defeat, only for Ryan (4-22) to step up to the challenge.

Darby, helped by Ed Phillips (51) and Craig Haupt, guided the hosts to 101-3 before his dismissal.

Richard West contributed 55 in 75 and 26-run partnerships with Phillips and Ryan to help Banbury to 202-6.

But when he fell, the tail crumbled and they were all out for 213.

Raminder Singh (44) and Aftab Khan (40) helped put Burnham more than in contention.

But when Ryan dismissed Khan, the match swung in the hosts’ favour.

Despite a 36-run stand, the last four wickets fell for just three runs, with left-arm spinner Ryan doing most of the damage.

Great & Little Tew suffered a heavy 165-run loss at home to Slough.

The visitors won the toss and chose to bat, Shahid Yousaf hammering 130 from 132 balls as they set 294-4.

He was well supported by Lloyd Paternott (76).

Tew never got going in reply and Yousaf also starred with the ball, taking 6-51.

Harrison Smith top-scored with 44, but the hosts were never in contention and fell way short on 129.
