A SPARKLING century from Ian Caunce set up a convincing 102-run victory for Oxfordshire Over 60s against Bucks at Tiddington in the West Midlands Group.

Caunce scored a blistering 104 from just 75 balls, which included 15 boundaries and three sixes, in the National Over 60 Championship clash.

His brilliant innings was well supported by Jerry Senior (32), Malcolm Evans (25) and Julian Lawton-Smith (24), helping Oxon post 224-9 from their 45 overs.

Bucks’ reply started well, but they were pegged back by some tight bowling from Steve Wilson, who took 2-36 including two of the top four, while Clive Ricks (3-37) ripped the heart out of the middle order.

Andrew Wingfield Digby took 2-2 from three overs as Bucks were dismissed for 122.

The Oxfordshire 50-plus B team thrashed Bedfordshire by eight wickets at Bletchingdon to make it five wins out of five in the Southern Counties Eastern Division.

Debutant Andy Cummings took 4-23 as Bedfordshire, put in to bat, were all out for 122.

Oxon knocked off the target in 24 overs, thanks to a belligerent 58 off 51 balls from Sam Mendes and a more sedate 38 not out from Russell Hayes.
