OXFORD City Stars bounced back from def- eat at Invicta Dynamos by demolishing Cardiff Devils 13-0 at Oxpens.

They went into the weekend hoping to secure four points in their bid for a play-off place in English National League South Division 1.

Although they did not achieve that, with second-placed Invicta proving too strong, their annihilation of strugglers Cardiff was still something special.

The industrious Alan Green and Czech import Ondrej Pekarik both smashed hat-tricks, while Nick Oliver bagged a brace.

At the other end, netminder Tom Annetts achieved a shut-out with 19 saves.

Stars took the lead in the first minute. Pekarik skated across Devils netminder Michael Crisp and back-handed the puck into the net.

Oliver extended the lead by firing past Crisp, Green netted from a pinpoint Andy Cox pass, and Pekarik drew Crisp to slid the puck home for his team’s fourth goal.

Joe Edwards scored a perfect mirror image of Green’s goal, this time Tom Avery providing the assist.

The second period carried on from the first with Stars adding goals through Ben Ealey-Newman, Mike Whillock and Pekarik.

Cardiff found their feet and Jonathan Nash forced the best out of Annetts.

The third period saw Cardiff replace the frazzled Crisp with Ross Miller, but their fortunes did not improve.

Green extended the lead, Boris Ruzicka fired home from a tight angle, and Josh Florey made it 11, Pekarik this time turning provider.

Green then struck again, and Oliver scored his second, tipping in a Florey shot.

The previous night the Stars made the trip to Kent only to find high-flying Invicta in top form.

In the fifth minute Dynamos’ Erik Ozollapa netted, with Stars equalising through Pekarik after good work by Florey and Oliver.

But Invicta dominated the second period.

Conor Redmond fired home, and Callum Fowler netted, while Stars defenceman Shane Moore was sitting a two-minute penalty.

In the third period, Ozollapa went on to complete a hat-trick with Stars having two men in the penalty box.
