Oxford City scored two late goals to seal their first home win of the season with a 3-0 success over bottom club Weston-super-Mare and move up to sixth in the Vanarama National League South table.

Leading through Bradley Bubb’s first-half strike, City could not make their dominance tell until Alejandro-Adrian Santiago and Luke Coulson netted late on.

Against opponents still looking for their first points, City started well, with Omari Sterling-James firing wide and Ander Del Alamo seeing a long-range effort saved.

Jamie Edge missed Weston’s best chance, before City went ahead on 26 minutes.

Coulson, who played a part in all three goals, sent over a cross from the right which evaded keeper Luke Purnell and found Bubb, who shot home at the far post.

Tsvetan Filipou’s effort was comfortably held by City keeper Luke Walker as Weston tried to fight back.

In the second half, Purnell saved from Sterling-James, before Santiago headed wide from Sterling-James’s corner.

City doubled their score after 87 minutes, when Santiago fired in Coulson’s centre.

And in stoppage time, Coulson collected a cross from Jose Lapoujade to make it 3-0.

City will be hoping to add more points on their long trip to face Truro City today.
