JOSH McEachran will miss the first three months of the season after breaking three bones in his foot.

The 22-year-old midfielder, from Kirtlington, only signed for Sky Bet Championship side Brentford from Chelsea earlier this month.

But an unfortunate collision with Toumani Diagouraga in training left him in the treatment room.

It means he will miss out on the chance to face Oxford United next month.

Michael Appleton’s men visit Griffin Park next month in the Capital One Cup first round on August 11.

McEachran had spent 15 years at Barclays Premier League champions Chelsea, but decided to leave Stamford Bridge this summer despite having 12 months remaining on his contract.

The former England Under 21 international made his Blues debut five years ago and has since been on loan at Middlesbrough, Swansea and Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem.
