CITY of Oxford won seven gold medals at the Ealing Short Course Open in London.

Ed Sharp, 12, triumphed in the 50m backstroke, Gabriel Agostini in the 100m freestyle, while Weiyi Tan, 14, and Elise Lawrence, 15, struck gold in their respective 200m breaststroke events.

Alissa Clarke, 14, was victorious in the 200m freestyle with 13-yearold Jennifer Burrell and Jessica Todd, 14, also winning their 50m backstroke disciplines.

There were also silvers for Lawrence in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and 200m IM, Chris Currie in the boys 16 and over 400m freestyle, Emilia Chen, 14, in the 200m backstroke and 200m IM and Libby Jervis, 13, in the 200m backstroke.

Meanwhile, City of Oxford’s David Murphy, 16, came home sixth in the men’s 100m junior breaststroke final at the British Championships at the London Aquatics Centre.

Murphy was one of five Oxford competitors to qualify for the London showpiece.

Emily Wood suffered disappointment as she failed to make the women’s open 200m breaststroke final.

That was despite breaking the South East Regional age group and the Oxfordshire & North Bucks Junior county record in 2mins 34.74secs in the heats.

Fellow 15-year-old Emily Nisbet touched home eighth in the women’s junior 200m butterfly final.

Natasha Fenton, 12, missed out on a place in the qualifying final for the Youth Olympics by just 0.01seconds in the 100m breaststroke.

There was disappointment for Fabian Whitbread who could only finish 19th in the 400m individual medley.

Kidlington & Gosford will be competing in Division 1 of the Chiltern League next season after achieving promotion.

They finished in third place overall in Division 2 after rounding out the top three at the Bletchley gala.

Edward Crisp (50m butterfly), Zak Gibson (also 50m butterfly), Jamie Ward (100m breaststroke), Jeremy Agha, Daniel Ward and Tom Warmington (all medley and freestyle relays) were winners at the meet.

Agha then joined Owen Blackford, Zak Gibson and Jamie Ward to take victory in the men’s open freestyle relay.

Kirsty Hoffmann and Owen Blackford collected the third place trophy.
