SEAN Walkinshaw will drive full-time in sportscar racing this year after being named as part of MRS GT-Racing’s three-driver line-up.

The 21-year-old from Chipping Norton will compete in both the Blancpain Endurance Series and its sister competition the Blancpain Sprint Series.

It means Walkinshaw will race in the Pro class at the wheel of a 2015-specification Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, alongside fellow Briton Craig Dolby.

The pair will be joined by a third driver, yet to be confirmed, for the endurance events.

Walkinshaw said: “I’m really happy to be part of such a fantastic team.

“I’m inexperienced in GT racing, but Craig’s experience will be a big help and I hope we can be in the top ten initially before fighting for podiums later in the year.”

Walkinshaw is set for his busiest campaign, which will take in renowned tracks at Monza, Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps in the endurance series.

The sprint calendar includes stops at Brands Hatch, plus a street circuit in Moscow.

Both start next month, with testing beginning at Paul Ricard, France, on March 11.
