Oxfordshire Under 17s continued their perfect start to the Shires County League season with a 13-7 victory over a strong Dorset side at Bartholomew School, Eynsham.

The hosts, 19-1 winners over Gloucestershire in their opener, started well and three-game singles wins by Alex Cook and Tom Leftley saw Oxon home.

The team will bid to make it a hat-trick of wins when they take on Surrey 2nd at Ebbisham on Saturday, November 22.

Meanwhile, Abingdon’s Jamie Cackett and Woodstock’s Natalia Mitchell won five medals between them for Oxfordshire at the Under 15 bronze tournament in Cheltenham.

The pair claimed bronze in the mixed, before Cackett and regular partner Rory Farwell, from Avon, picked up silver in the boys’ doubles final.

Cackett reached the semi-final stages for a third successive tournament in the singles, but he had to settle for bronze after losing 21-14 to Farwell.

Mitchell won silver in the girls’ singles.
