Abingdon Vale's Lexie-Mae Neal and Lilli-Mae Snuggs secured places in the national finals after superb displays in the regional finals at Milton Keynes.

Ten-year-old Snuggs was almost withdrawn from her level 3 event following a sickness bug, but managed to compete brilliantly, taking bronze on beam, gold on floor and the overall bronze medal.

This secures her place in the couth region teamthat will go forward to the national finals in November.

Neal, nine, also had a brilliant competition.Having moved up two age groups in just a year, she stunned everybody to finish a brilliant fifth, also securing her spot in the nationals.

In the level 4 elite section, Abingdon’s Isabelle Larman secured two gold and two medals, also going on to take the overall trophy.

Abingdon’s 21 members, some of whom were in their first regional event, brought home 22 medals In the level 4 ‘in age’ section, Lily Titley, nine, finished 14th overall, taking a bronze medal on floor.

Abi France picked up a bronze for her beam routine in the 13-14 age groups.

Abingdon dominated the 15+ age group with EllieGalbraith being crowned overall champion after taking two gold and two silver apparatus medals.

Chloe Lloyd won the overall silver plus two silvers and two bronzes.

Chloe Palmer picked up gold on the floor in her final competition before she retires from the sport.

Meanwhile, Carterton GC’s Ella Mead, 15, starred in the level 3 ‘out of age’ competition.

She took home gold on bars with a score of 11.20, bronze on vault (11.50) and bronze on beam(8.30), taking home over-all bronze in her age group.

Clubmate Natasha Gran-ville, 12, won a silver medal on the vault with a score of 11.70.
