Headington A clinched the Division 1 title in the Oxford & District League, sponsored by Yarnton Nurseries, with a sparkling 5-1 win at Oxford City & County A.

Skips Jason King, Mark Charlett and Nick Rae-Welsh posted rinks wins as Headington triumphed 83-67.

Alan Ley prevented a whitewash with an 18-17 victory over Howard Watts.

The win sees Headington regain the title they last won in 2012, with two games to spare.

South Oxford won their first match of the season with a 4-2 victory over Carterton, but it couldn’t stop their relegation being confirmed.

An outstanding 31-10 win for Ken Mobley’s rink was the highlight, and ensured the points for the hosts in a 77-71 scoreline.

Shiplake won 5-1 at home to Banbury Central A, but the match was much closer than the points tally suggests.

Three shots on the last end by Jim Bland’s four were enough to swing the match in the home team’s favour as they triumphed 79-74.

West Witney stay top of Division 2 after a 5-1 win at home to Chipping Norton.

Trevor Prew’s rink led the way with a 30-16 success in the 91-77 victory.

Adderbury’s promotion from Division 3 was confirmed with a 4-2 win at Kidlington.

Chris Skidmore’s four set the standard with a 30-10 victory as Adderbury got home 82-71.

The Oxford are also promoted following a 3½-2½ nail-biting win at Banbury Central B.

The visitors took victory on rink wins after the sides tied 73-73.

Bloxham’s 5-1 defeat of South Oxford B ensures their promotion from Division 3, as the only two clubs that could overtake them – Chadlington and Woodstock – meet this week.

Wins on three rinks in a high-scoring match saw Bloxham triumph 95-66.

Chadlington took over second spot by crushing visitors West Oxford 6-0.

Peter Madeley’s men led the way with a 31-10 victory in the 95-53 triumph.

Woodstock chalked up a century of shots in a 5-1 success at Florence Park.

Big wins for Brian Clarke and John Stone’s rinks saw Woodstock roar home 107-53.
