CHINNOR still control their survival destiny, despite a 56-19 defeat at Bournemouth, whose relegation was confirmed by results elsewhere.

Saturday’s eight-try humiliation saw Chinnor slip to one place above the drop zone, but two wins from their remaining two matches will ensure they avoid the same fate as Bournemouth.

The hosts roared into a 29-0 lead after just 15 minutes, thanks to tries from Wyn Roberts (2), Joshua Terry and Russell Wescott, with George Drake converting three and a penalty.

Chinnor replied with a try from Jack Hayes, converted by Will Millett, but Westcott went over again, with Drake adding the extras.

Bournemouth increased their lead to 49-7 after the break, with tries from Gavin Hart and Joseph Rees, plus a Drake penalty.

Two tries from Matt Mountford, the latter converted by Millett, saw Chinnor threaten a bonus point.

Bournemouth had the final say, with Jack Metters converting his own try to cap a miserable day for Chinnor, who visit fourth-placed Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday.
