SOPHIE Stone came out on top to win the Oxfordshire Ladies County Championship for the first time at Huntercombe.
The Studley Wood golfer beat defending champion Cara Gainer, from Frilford Heath, 4 & 3 in the final.
Stone was a worthy winner, having despatched county captain Kate Evans (Frilford Heath) 2 & 1 in the quarter-final.
It set up a clash with Mandy Nall, playing on her home course.
Nall had created the shock of the tournament to reach the semi-finals after knocking out top seed Katherine O’Connor in the last eight, but Stone went through 4 & 3.
Gainer’s progress from the semi-final was emphatic, winning 7 & 6 against Sam Round.
Judy McCairns (Oxford Ladies) clinched the Lucy Davies Trophy, finishing one up in a tight final against Henley’s Sarah Arnold.
A youthful line-up for the Mid-Silver competition saw Lily Robinson, of Tadmarton Heath, edge past Burford’s Caitlin Shaw.
There was another win for the Oxford Ladies contingent, with Scilla Dudding taking the Bronze Championship on the second play-off hole to finally see off Studley Wood’s Claire MacIntosh.
