Chiltern Railways is encouraging customers to check before they travel ahead of a rail union's industrial action.

The Aslef union is planning to go on strike from Monday, May 6 to Saturday, May 11, posing significant disruptions to services.

The action entails rolling strike days across England and an overtime ban which will reduce services.

On May 6, customers are advised to travel only if absolutely necessary due to the industrial action and the closure of the Birmingham New Street to London Euston line.

This is expected to cause an already reduced Chiltern Railways service to be significantly busier than usual.

There will be one train per hour between London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street, two trains per hour between London Marylebone and Oxford, one per hour between Princes Risborough and Aylesbury and one per hour between London Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway.

This will be the case on May 6 and also on May 7, 9 and 10.

There will also be a shuttle service between Leamington Spa and Stratford Upon Avon for most of the day on these dates.

On May 8, due to the strike action, no Chiltern Railways services will operate on any route.

The overtime ban will further limit services on May 7, 9, 10 and 11.

During these days, services will end earlier than usual, with a reduced service running on each day.

Customers are being advised to check their complete journey prior to travelling.

On May 11, customers should note that no trains will call at Wembley Stadium station all day for the FA Trophy/Vase events at Wembley Stadium.

Solihull Moors fans are warned that the reduced timetable will make trains busier than usual.

Customers may not be able to board their first-choice train as queuing systems will be implemented at Birmingham Moor Street and Solihull stations before the match begins.

As an alternative, supporters can travel into central London via Birmingham International or New Street stations with Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern for tube connections to Wembley Stadium.

However, these services are also expected to be busier than normal.

A normal service is expected to resume on Sunday, May 12.

However, an enhanced and modified timetable will be in place for the Women's FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.

Throughout this period, customers should check before they travel on the Chiltern Railways website or app.

Customers can find out more about how this industrial action will affect their nearest station by visiting the Chiltern Railways website.
