THE cause of death of a five-year-old boy who died after a crash near Bicester has been confirmed at an inquest opening.

A crash between a Ford Focus and a KTM motorcycle on the B4011 in Blackthorn, near the junction with Thame Road, at around 2pm on April 14 took the life of young Teddy Hickman.

An inquest held at Oxford Coroner’s Court on Wednesday, April 25 heard that the young boy, who was from Bicester, was pronounced dead by a paramedic at 2.18pm that day.

His medical cause of death has been provided as a severe head injury.

The rider of the motorbike, a man aged in his 40s, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with serious injuries.

Several days after the crash the motorcyclist remains in hospital with serious injuries. 

The driver of the Ford Focus, a woman in her 30s and a nine-year-old child, were also treated in hospital for less serious injuries.

Both the driver and the nine-year-old child have been discharged from hospital.

A date for a full inquest into Teddy’s death has been set to take place at the same court on October 17 this year at 2pm.

No arrests have been made as Thames Valley Police has launched an appeal for witnesses following the incident.

Teddy’s family described the young boy as ‘beautiful’ and ‘cheeky’ and several tributes were left at the scene.
