Police searched two men for drugs and ordered an intoxicated man to leave a park while patrolling Bicester town centre.
Cherwell District Council introduced a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) throughout the town centre in 2022.
Under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 councils can use PSPOs to tackle a range of antisocial behaviour, including loitering in a manner which may bring about antisocial behaviour, street begging and the consumption of alcohol.
TVP Cherwell Neighbourhood Policing Team and Cherwell District Council Community Safety Team said they attended incidents last night (April 12) including:
• A search on two men in Garth Park following a sighting/admission of being in possession of cannabis;
• A man was directed to leave Garth Park due to his level of intoxication and behaviour likely to cause intimidation. He will receive a £100 fine if he breaches this by returning within 24 hours of the direction being given.
• Engagement with a man riding an e-scooter in Hunt Close. This will be followed up with him being served a final warning notice.
• Numerous instances of engagement with both adults and groups of young people in Pioneer Square, which had a positive impact on levels of anti-social behaviour.
• Several pieces of intelligence were submitted following these actions.
