Oxford City Council has delivered a plan which will guide its future planning decisions to the government for examination.

The Local Plan 2040, created through four public consultations, aims to guide Oxford's planning decisions in the city for the next 16 years.

The document submitted were a draft of the Local Plan, all feedback from the final public consultation round, proposed alterations based on the consultation, and supporting documents.

Two inspectors have been selected by the planning inspectorate to independently assess the scheme.

Their task is to determine whether the plan complies with national planning policy and other legal requirements.

The council anticipates a public examination will occur later this year and, if approved, the plan could be adopted by summer 2025, replacing the Local Plan 2036.
