A DAD has spoken of his son’s fear of going out alone after being held at knifepoint before he was robbed in Bicester.

The 16-year-old, who wanted to remain anonymous, was attacked at about 10pm on Monday, September 19, and is the second teenage victim to be targeted in just over a week.

The youngster said he was approached when riding his bike through Spider Park, off Keble Road, when somebody held a knife to his throat before robbing him of his bike and mobile phone.

Dad Andy Fox said: “My son was coming home from a friend’s house on his bike through Spider Park and a guy came up to him and put a knife to his throat.

“It was about a five-minute journey, but he said it happened within minutes and the person took his bike worth £400 and Blackberry phone.

“He is very shaken up about it, he has not been and doesn’t want to be out on his own since.”

Police investigating the attack have said it is believed to be linked to an incident that happened on Thursday, September 8, when another 16-year-old was robbed at knifepoint in fields behind Bicester Leisure Centre.

On that occasion a Specialised P1 mountain bike and Nike rucksack were stolen.

Police spokeswoman Connie Primmer said: “We are investigating a robbery which happened in Spider Park, Keble Road, Bicester, at around 10pm on September 19.

“The victim is a 16-year-old boy. He sustained a minor injury and a bike and mobile phone were stolen.

“Officers believe it may be linked to the robbery near Bicester Leisure Centre on September 16 and are investigating this line of inquiry.”

Mr Fox added: “At the time we were watching Crimewatch which was doing a story about a stabbing in London.

“Then just as we had watched that I got a call about my son, it sends tingles through me thinking about it.

“It is definitely a concern as I do have more children in Bicester who I have told not to go round on their own anymore. It is just horrible you don’t think of it happening to anyone you know let alone your son.

“I hope they find the person who is doing this to stop it happening again.”

Thames Valley Police Bicester has said that two people have been arrested in connection with the recent robberies. Anyone with information is asked to contact 101.
