A 26-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed at a house in Barton.
Just after midnight on Sunday the 56-year-old man was assaulted at a home in Henry Taunt Close.
Police said he sustained stab wounds to his neck and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington.
A 26-year-old woman was arrested bailed until August 17.
Det Con Steve Bates said he believed the assault took place following an altercation between two people in the house.
He added the force thought the people involved were known to each other.
Mr Bates said: "Officers are in the area making enquiries and I would encourage anyone who has any information about what happened to speak to them."
