ITV 2 show Love Island has been criticised after Oxfordshire girl Emma-Jane Woodham appeared to have sex on screen.

The 19-year-old from Begbroke was seen apparently bedding fellow contestant Terry Walsh when the show was broadcast last night.

The Sun reported TV campaign group Media Watch UK had criticised ITV for creating a "sexual spectacle for young people".

Trainee project manager Ms Woodham was seen romping with Mr Walsh, 28, on top of the covers while other contestants looked on in surprise.

The self-described "sassy and determined" Ms Woodham said she was sure to bring fireworks to the programme, which takes 12 single participants to a "Love Island" to see if any sparks fly.

The former pupil of Woodstock's Marlborough School is the ex-girlfriend of fellow islander Tom Powell.

But she was paired by the show with Mr Walsh, who was recently blasted by girlfriend Malin Andersson for cheating with Emma.

Ms Andersson, who was also starring on the show, was dumped from the island last week after a public vote dubbed her the least popular girl.

Love Island is on ITV2 every night at 9pm, except for Sunday.
